Dr. Walter Merker, DVM
Dr. Walter Merker’s passion for animals began at a very young age. He channeled this passion into a career in veterinary medicine, first by earning his B.S in molecular, cell and developmental biology from U.C. Santa Cruz in 2005, then graduating from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010.
He spent two years at an exotic and small animal hospital in Las Vegas before moving to Tucson, Arizona and joining the team at Orange Grove Animal Hospital.
When not treating exotic mammals, reptiles, birds, and dogs and cats, Dr. Merker enjoys writing articles for various herpetological publications and is also a consulting veterinarian for the Reid Park Zoo.
He enjoys cheering on his two sons in their soccer games, traveling, and exploring the flora and fauna of the sky islands around Tucson.
